Wheat Pizza Crust
Recipe
This wheat
pizza crust recipe makes for a lighter crust since it uses half
whole wheat flour and half all purpose
flour.

|
1 cup whole wheat
flour
1 cup all purpose
flour
2 tbsp
sugar
2 tsp active dry
yeast
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp garlic
powder
1/2 cup (4
ounces) beer
1/2 cup (4
ounces) water
Step #1:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
F. Assemble dry ingredients into a large
mixing bowl. Combine and mix dry
ingredients throughly.
Step#2:
Combine water and beer in a
glass measuring cup and warm in the microwave
for about 20 seconds. You want the liquid
ingredients to be warm, but not steaming.
Liquid that is too hot will kill the yeast in
the pizza dough and it will not rise as it
should. Gently stir warmed liquid
ingredients into the mixing bowl until a thick
pizza dough has been formed.
Step #3:
Cover the mixing bowl with a
clean kitchen towel and place in a warm spot
for about 20 minutes, so the pizza crust may
rise. It's ready when it has roughly
doubled in size.
Step #4:
Turn wheat pizza dough out
onto a clean floured surface and then use your
hands to gently flatten the dough into a round
shape. Next, use a rolling pin to roll
the dough out further into your desired shape
and about 1/2 inch thick. Transfer pizza
crust to a nonstick baking sheet and add your
favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for about 20
minutes, or until the crust is browned on the
bottom.
